St Paul’s have an exciting opportunity for an EYFS Teaching Assistant L2 to join our happy team.

The role:

We are seeking a positive, enthusiastic and dedicated EYFS Teaching Assistant who understands how young children learn and develop. Working closely with the class teacher and wider EYFS team, the successful applicant will help to provide a safe, nurturing and stimulating environment in which children can build confidence, independence and a lifelong love of learning.

Key responsibilities include:

·         Supporting the class teacher in planning and delivering engaging learning opportunities across all areas of the EYFS curriculum

·         Helping to create and maintain an inviting, language-rich and well-organised continuous provision, indoors and outdoors

·         Working with individual children and small groups to develop communication, early literacy, early mathematics, physical development and social skills

·         Supporting children’s care, wellbeing and transition into school, including personal care where required

·         Observing children at play and contributing to assessment records, next steps and communication with parents and carers

It is expected the successful applicant will have:

·         A good level of education, including GCSEs or equivalent in Maths and English, together with a relevant Level 2 qualification

·         Recent and relevant experience of working with children within an Early Years Foundation Stage setting

·         A sound understanding of the EYFS statutory framework, the prime and specific areas of learning, and child-centred early years practice

·         Experience of supporting learning through purposeful play, adult-led activities and high-quality interactions, both indoors and outdoors

·         The ability to observe children, contribute to assessments and accurately evidence learning and progress

·         Experience of supporting children with a range of needs, including SEND, and adapting activities so that every child can participate and flourish

·         The ability to support early language and communication, early reading and phonics, early writing, and early mathematical development

·         A commitment to promoting children’s personal, social and emotional development, positive behaviour, independence and self-regulation

·         Strong communication skills and the ability to build warm, professional relationships with children, colleagues, parents and carers

·         The ability to work effectively as part of the EYFS team, contribute to the preparation and organisation of the learning environment, and respond flexibly to children’s interests and needs

·         A strong commitment to safeguarding, children’s welfare and maintaining consistently high standards of care and practice
