Longtown Community Primary and Pre-School Governing Body are looking to appoint a dedicated and enthusiastic Head Teacher to lead our school from September 2026.

We are looking for an energetic, talented, ambitious and positive Head Teacher with a passionate belief in the limitless potential of young people to lead our lovely village school into the next stage of our learning journey.

Longtown Community Primary and Pre-School is a happy, warm and successful school of 48 children taught in three mixed age classes and includes a growing pre-school on site. We are situated in the centre of the village of Longtown, nestling on the edge of the beautiful Black Mountains and with easy access of major roads from Hereford and Abergavenny.

Children are welcoming, enthusiastic and engaged both in lessons and in the many after school activities and trips.  There is a thriving PTA, frequent interaction with the local community and great parental support for the school. Longtown is a feeder school for Fairfield High School.

We were judged Good by Ofsted in April  2024.                                                                                                

Longtown Primary School is committed to the safeguarding and promoting the welfare of children and young people.  The successful candidate will be subject to a Disclosure and Barring Service enhanced check and further pre-employment checks will be conducted in accordance with KCSIE.  The post is exempt from the Rehabilitation of Offenders Act 1974 and the School is therefore permitted to ask job applicants to declare all convictions and cautions (including those which are “spent” unless they are “protected” under the DBS filtering rules) in order to assess their suitability to work with children
