Staunton-On-Wye Endowed Primary School is a nurturing, rural school which fosters a love of learning. We are proud of our eco-school status and strong music and arts practice. Children are encouraged to become happy, self-confident and inquisitive learners in order to achieve their full potential. We are looking to appoint a SEND Teaching Assistant to work with children in KS1 in need of additional support, who:
• Has a good understanding of child development
• Has a high standard of general education including good proven numeracy and literacy skills
• Has relevant experience of working with children with a range of needs within a learning environment
• Has experience or willingness to understand how to support effective Key Foundations including phonics and early maths
• Has high expectations of behaviour and strong positive behaviour management skills
• Has the ability to facilitate the pupils’ independent learning
• Has the ability to foster well-being and support a nurturing learning environment through relational and restorative practice
• Has an ability to work flexibly, confidentially, efficiently and with their own initiative
Staunton on Wye Endowed Primary School is committed to the safeguarding and promoting the welfare of children and young people. The successful candidate will be subject to a Disclosure and Barring Service enhanced check and further pre-employment checks will be conducted in accordance with KCSIE. The post is exempt from the Rehabilitation of Offenders Act 1974 and the School is therefore permitted to ask job applicants to declare all convictions and cautions (including those which are “spent” unless they are “protected” under the DBS filtering rules) in order to assess their suitability to work with children
